Welcome, Marcello Trotta!

Ħamrun Spartans are delighted to announce the signing of Italian forward Marcello Trotta.

The experienced 33-year-old striker joins the Spartans after a career which has seen him feature extensively in Italian football, including spells with Sassuolo and Crotone, while also gaining experience in English football.

A product of Napoli’s youth system, Trotta moved to England as a teenager with Manchester City and later Fulham, going on to make his name in the English game featuring in the Premier League with Fulham and enjoying a prolific spell in the Football League with Brentford. Returning to his homeland, he built a lengthy career across Serie A and Serie B with the likes of Avellino, Sassuolo, Crotone and Frosinone, and also sampled Portuguese football with Famalicão. A former Italy youth international up to Under-21 level, the left-footed striker brings a wealth of experience and a proven eye for goal.

Trotta now begins a new chapter in Malta with the aim of strengthening our attacking department for the new league season.
