Ħamrun Ħanin Delivers on Promise: Multi-Sensory Room for Youths with Autism
Ħamrun Ħanin has made a lasting impact on the local community by fulfilling its pledge to create a dedicated multi-sensory room for young people on the autism spectrum and their families.
The initiative has now become a reality thanks to a collaboration between Ħamrun Ħanin, the Autism Parents Association (APA), and SGPC Guardian Angel Secondary School. This agreement brings together purpose, resources, and expertise:
-
Ħamrun Ħanin contributed €12,000 raised through a community-driven fundraising campaign.
-
SGPC Guardian Angel Secondary School has generously provided the physical space to house the room.
-
The Autism Parents Association is offering expert guidance on the design and implementation, ensuring the room meets the sensory needs of youths with autism.
This milestone follows 18 months of dedicated work, including a highlight moment last year when Ħamrun Spartans FC players wore special jerseys designed by 9-year-old Jacob Fava during an FA Trophy match – a powerful gesture that captured hearts and raised awareness.
🧩 The room is thoughtfully planned to serve as a sanctuary – promoting calm, emotional regulation, and inclusion for individuals with autism, while also supporting their families.
Words from the Partners:
Ian Debattista, Chairman of Ħamrun Ħanin, remarked:
“This was one of the most important goals we set since our VO was formed. It’s a proud day to see it materialise. Thank you to all our partners for making this happen.”
Valerie Brincat, APA Spokesperson, added:
“This room is more than just equipment – it’s a safe space for children with autism to feel secure and supported.”
Elizabeth Pisani, Head of School at SGPC Guardian Angel, shared:
“This partnership shows how community collaboration can truly transform lives. We are proud to be part of this inclusive vision.”
This project is a testament to the power of compassion, collaboration, and community spirit – a space built with heart, for those who need it most. ❤️
