Ħamrun Spartans closed out the year with a powerful statement, crushing Birkirkara 6-1 in a dominant display at the National Stadium.

It was a timely response from the Malta champions following a challenging week, bouncing back from back-to-back defeats against Marsaxlokk and Shamrock Rovers. The win closes the gap on Floriana to just four points ahead of their top-of-the-table clash on January 6.

Despite heavy rainfall and a battered pitch, the Spartans were clinical and composed, showing their trademark attacking flair.

After relentless pressure, Ħamrun finally found the breakthrough in the 36th minute when Mouad El Fanis smashed home a precise volley following a superb cross from Raphael Compri.
